For over 20 years the Holy Spirit Renewal
Ministries
in American Baptist Churches has held a conference at the American
Baptist
Assembly Grounds on the edge of Green Lake, Wisconsin. The options for
the
conference goer include the convenience of air conditioned hotel rooms
and
the freedom of camping.

Praise and Worship has always been a major part of
the Holy Spirit Conference. Many of us come from traditional
communities of
faith and we are hungry for a freedom of expression not always
acceptable
or appropriate there. Others of us, with gifts in the area of leading
worship,
have shared those gifts through song, dance, and other worship
ministries.

One 2001 conference highlight was a baptismal
service. "As hundreds watched from the shore, seven people were
baptized in the waters of Green Lake and gave their testimony of the
Spirit's move in their lives...As they came up out of the water, they
also received the laying on of hands
for the baptism of the Holy Spirit and gifts -- following the pattern
of
the early Baptists."
